Three Mad Potters, Small Batch Pottery

A homeschool family with two creative teens.
Three Mad Potters are from Prince George, BC, and we stared their business in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. My family has always been extremely creative, pouring all our fun ideas into many different forms of art. After attending Leanna Carlson’s pottery classes for some time, we found a new favourite way to create. Leanna opened the door to unending 3D possibilities through clay. We eagerly learned more and more about clay until we were able to make beautiful, well-made, strong mugs. And now we’ve become real potters!

Mad rebrand
As our business evolved — and my graphic design skills along with it — we decided to refresh our visual identity. The main changes affected the logo. The vision was to emphasize our uniquely thick, drippy glazes and hint at our 3D sculptural pieces. Our followers know Three Mad Potters best for our vivid Cotton Candy glaze, and bright pink branding — a colour choice that goes against the grain of most pottery businesses’ browns and blues.

My old logo design from 5 years ago
This was really my first long-term project as a graphic designer, and I have loved learning new programs and skills to enhance our business since starting this project as a hobby back in 2021. My passion and skills have evolved so much since then, and I continue to enjoy working on deliverables for this business as our entrepreneurial and branding needs shift. What started as one logo has become a realized family brand a life-long joy, setting me on the pursuit of graphic design.
